American Idol Group Round Recap
BuddyTV.com contributor Bill King wrote up a thorough review of “American Idol” season XIV’s Hollywood Week. He also declared Michael the winner of American Idol, so that’s a positive development.
Team Dimples, with Michael Simeon, Jaq Mackenzie, Nick Fradiani and Hunter Larsen, do a surprisingly good job with a terrible song choice in “Rude,” but the best part is when Jaq sings about putting on her “wet suit” to ask you a question. J-Lo professes her love for Michael, and all four advance, with Harry proclaiming that all but one of them will eventually be sent home (thus declaring Michael the winner?).

Recap: Team Dimples and Michael Simeon Take on Hollywood Week
Daniel Fienberg, with Hitfix.com, wrote a great recap of last night’s “American Idol.” He gave positive marks for ever member of #TeamDimples, read for yourself:
8:55 p.m. Oh. First we’re getting Team Dimples. Jaq Mackenzie is much better singing covers than she was on that first audition with her original. Nick Fradiani has a decent corniness. I like Hunter Larsen’s combination of smoker’s voice and California girl looks. And Michael Simeon raises Nick’s corniness with a bit more earnest talent as well. This is a very well-conceived group and they all perform well together. They’re all advancing, though Harry warns them that only one can win.

TV Line – Dancing With a Star!
Earlier today, TV Line posted its recap of the American Idol premiere last night and they ranked Michael as the top performer of the night. Check out what they had to say:
American Idol is determined to discover a Carrie Underwood-level superstar in 2015 — as the show’s promotional tour and ad campaign keep reminding us — but it probably wouldn’t be bad for ratings if it managed to land a fourth husband for Jennifer Lopez, either.
1. Michael Simeon, “Stay With Me” | Charming Ole Miss student displayed a tone so smokey and delicious, I’d like it added to the menu of the local Mexican place I’m supposed to be swearing off as part of my new “Eat Healthy in 2015″ resolution. OK, yeah, his “will you dance with me, J.Lo?” shtick was the extra layer of melted cheese we did not need atop our quesadilla — sorry, the stomach wants what the stomach wants! — but better to possess a little extra swagger than to fade into the wallpaper like so many Season 13 fellas. (OK, you can say that was a low blow, but can you give me the first and last name of more than three of ‘em without the help of Google?)
